Anti-corruption Agency under SSSG Detained Two Individuals on the Fact of Bribery in Large Quantities and Assistance in Bribery in Large Quantities

The officers of Anti-corruption Agency under the State Security Service of Georgia, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities detained the employees of National Museum Amiran D. and Ketevan D. on the fact of bribery in large quantities and assistance in bribery in large quantities.

Investigation established, that the detainees promised a foreign citizen to issue a fake conclusion about the work of painting as if it was an original work of Richard Sommer and in return demanded and took USD 7 000.

Amiran D. and Ketevan D. took the partial amount of the mentioned sum, USD 1,000 on 27th December, 2017.

On 28th December, 2017, the detainees gave the foreign national the conclusion, which read that the painting was an original work of Richard Sommer and took the rest of the demanded amount, USD 6 000 when they were detained by the officers of Anti-corruption Agency under the State Security Service of Georgia.

Investigation is in progress on the fact of bribery and assistance in bribery (Article 338, part II, subparagraph “B” and Article 25,338, part II, subparagraph “B” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages from 7 to 11 years of imprisonment).

Investigation is carried out by the Anti-corruption Agency under the State Security Service of Georgia.
