The officers of Anti-corruption Agency under the State Security Service of Georgia as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities detained citizens of Georgia Jemal Duadze and Gogita Demetrashvili on the fact of swindling committed by group. Investigation established, that Jemal Duadze has plotted to misappropriate a certain amount of Bejan D’s cash by swindling.

In order to accomplish his intent in summer, 2015 Jemal Duadze sent person unknown for the investigation to Bejan D., who introduced himself as David Giorgadze and told him he allegedly had problems with Anti-corruption Agency, an investigation had been started against him and demanded 50 000 USD for solving criminal case launched against him. At the same time, Jemal Duadze strongly advised Bejan D. to pay the demanded amount, which according to him lessened to 30 000 USD. In order to receive the abovementioned amount, Jemal Duadze also contacted the grandchild of Bejan D, the citizen of Russian Federation Beka D., got him familiarized with the developments and demanded 30 000 USD to solve the problems.

On 20th March, 2016, Jemal Duadze asked the citizen of Russian Federation Beka D. to arrive to Georgia in order to hand the demanded amount of money – 30 000 USD to the officers of Anti-corruption Agency that according to him, would finally settle the problem. Aiming at accomplishing his criminal intent, Jemal Duadze contacted his acquaintance, Gogita Demetrashvili, previously convicted for swindling, revealed his plans and they plotted fraudulent way to receive the money. On 20th March, 2016, approximately at 02:00 A.M, Jemal Duadze, in accordance with his plan met Beka D. who arrived from Russian Federation, took him to the territory in the vicinities of Avlabari metro station, where he had a meeting with Gogita Demetrashvili. It should be noted, that Jemal Duadze had previously rented an S-class car. Gogita Demetrashvili introduced himself as deputy head of The State Security Service of Georgia Ioseb Gogashvili and promised him to stop the investigation on criminal case launched against his grandfather, Bejan D. and to solve the further problems. Lately afterwards, on the same day, Jemal Duadze received 30000 USD allegedly to be handed to Ioseb Gogashvili in hotel Holliday Inn, Tbilisi.

Jemal Duadze and Gogita Demetrashvili were detained after they had received the money. Investigation is in progress on the fact of swindling committed by group. (Article 180, parts II and III). The committed crime envisages from 6 to 9 years of imprisonment. The investigation is carried out by the Anti-corruption Agency under the State Security Service of Georgia. It should also be noted, that taking into consideration the interests of the investigation, we identify the faces and personalities in the video footage, as well as the text released, in view of, there are other people defrauded by the detained persons, who will be able to identify them.
