Statement of Security Service of Georgia

The Commission, established according to the Law of Georgia on “Freedom Charter” within State Security Service of Georgia, sent a letter to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on the subject of the planned event of "People's Movement of Socialist Georgia" on August 4, 2016 in Telavi, where the organization may use communist totalitarian symbols.

The Commission appeals to the MoIA, for the purposes of the legislation on "Freedom Charter", to carry out preventive actions against incitment of the communist totalitarian ideology and take appropriate measures.

Commission also addressed a letter to the Chairman of "People's Movement of Socialist Georgia” Valeri Kvaratskhelia to prevent and eliminate the use of communist totalitarian symbols on above-mentioned public event, according to the requirements of Paragraph 6 of Article 7 of the "Freedom Charter", otherwise appropriate liability measures will be applied under the legislation of Georgia.
