The Head of the State Security Service of Georgia Vakhtang Gomelauri met Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in the framework of the official visit.  The parties discussed existing situation in the region. During the meeting the importance of bilateral relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan in the sphere of security was discussed and the contribution of Security Services to the strengthening the security of both countries was emphasized.

During the visit, the Head of the State Security Service of Georgia met Madat Guliyev, the Head of State Security Service of Azerbaijan. The parties discussed the prospects of deepening cooperation between the Security Services of both countries, which is important for security and stability in the region. Issues of sharing of information and experience between the Services was also considered.

Upon conclusion of the meeting, the parties signed the Memorandum of Cooperation between the State Security Service of Georgia and the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
