Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia Detained One Person on the Fact of Attempted Fraud in Large Quantity

The officers of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, detained the citizen of Georgia Lasha Sh. on the fact of attempted fraud in large quantity.

Investigation established, that in October, 2016, Lasha Sh. promised to the citizen of Georgia, an Internally Displaced Person from Abkhazia, that with the support of high officials of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia, he would get an apartment  in Tbilisi and demanded 6000 USD in return.

On November 2, 2016, Lasha Sh. took part of the demanded sum of money – 3000 USD from the mentioned person by deception and fraud – when he was detained by the officers of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia. 

Investigation is in progress on the fact of attempted fraud in especially large quantity (Article 19-180, part III, sub-paragraph “B”, of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages from 6 to 9 years of imprisonment).

Investigation is carried out by the Anti-corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia.
