Anti-corruption Agency under State Security Service of Georgia Detained Criminal Group on the fact of Issuing and selling fake Diplomas

The officers of Anti-corruption Agency under State Security Service of Georgia, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, detained Eter K, Gardabani Minicipality Gamgebeli representative in Vakhtangisi administrative unit, Davit Ch., director of David Guramishvili International Teaching University “Iberia” and two citizens Phatima Ch. And Zurab. G for issuing and selling of fake certificates and diplomas.

Investigation established, that the director of the University “Iberia” alongside one citizen issued fake diplomas of the various state universities as well as the diplomas of Iv.Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University for different faculties, which they sold to Eter K, Gardabani Minicipality Gamgebeli representative in Vakhtangisi administrative unit and to her accomplice. On the other hand, the above-mentioned persons demanded and received 3 500 USD for duplicates of the fake diplomas, when they were detained. Fake diplomas and part of the amount 1500 USD were seized as evidence.

In the course of the investigation, it was revealed, that the criminal group issued and sold fake diplomas and other documents for other citizens, whose identities are being verified.

Investigation is in progress on the fact of bribery, production, selling and using of fake documentation (article 362, part I of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages up to 3 years of imprisonment. Investigation is carried out by Anti-corruption Agency under State Security Service of Georgia.
