IPRM Meeting Held in Ergneti

74th IPRM meeting was held in Ergneti. Sebastian Kurz, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office attended the meeting as a special guest.

Representatives of Central Government alongside other participants of the meeting discussed incidents that took place after the last IPRM meeting and pose potential threat to peace and stability on the ground.

Particular attention was paid to the issue of Georgian citizen Giorgi Giunashvili, who is illegally detained in so-called Tskhinvali prison. Representatives of Central Government stated, that accusations are fabricated and lack legitimacy, therefore Giunashvili should be released unconditionally. During the meeting discussions were also held over the problems that local residents face in the vicinities of occupation line due to illegally installed barbed-wires, fences and other artificial barriers. Representatives of Central Government introduced a particular incident in this regard.

“It was good to me to get the overview about the situation on the ground. I know that this is a difficult one and that it is not easy to have progress. But our main goal is to support people and to improve the leaving conditions and I hope that all representatives support this goal” - stated Sebastian Kurz.
