Head of State Security Service of Georgia Held Meeting with Director of Europol

Vakhtang Gomelauri, Head of State Security Service of Georgia held meeting with Rob Wainwright, director of Europol, who is paying an official visit to Georgia.

One of the important direction of Europol’s activities  is to struggle against terrorism.  During the meeting talks were held on bilateral relations between Europol and State Security Service of Georgia in terms of combating terrorism. Vakhtang Gomelauri got Rob Wainwright familiarized with SSG achievements in this regard.

In the scopes of the visit payed by Rob Wainwright, “Agreement on operative and strategic cooperation between Georgia and Europol was signed. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia signed the agreement on behalf of Georgia. The agreement enables the country to become operative partner of Europol. It is worth noting, that the agreement is offering Georgia’s law enforcement agencies the opportunity to cooperate with Europol in operative and non-operative fields, exchange operative information and personal data through secure information exchange network, participate in mutual investigative groups organized by Europol and receive significant analysis-based information from Europol.

Europol activities are addressed to the crimes that impact two or more EU member states or damage general interests of the EU.
