Officers of Anti-corruption Agency under State Security Service of Georgia, as a result of joint operative-searching and investigative activities alongside the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia detained citizen of Georgia Mindia S. on the fact of appropriating sum of money in large quantities by attempted swindling.

Investigation established, that in the beginning of June of the current year, Mindia S. introduced himself to a citizen of Georgia displaced from occupied Abkhazia as an employee of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia and promised him to assist in receiving a flat in the newly built block of flats in the vicinities of Tbilisi Sea through the help of senior officials of the Ministry. In return Mindia S. demanded money in the amount of USD 10 000. The detainee also explained that he needed part of money USD 8 000 in order to pass the sum to the senior officials of the ministry in advance.

Mindia S. deceitfully appropriated part of demanded money, when he was detained by the officers of Anti-corruption Agency under SSG as accused.

Investigation is in progress on the fact of attempted swindling in large quantities (Article 19-180 pat III, subparagraph “b”, which envisages from 6 to 9 years of imprisonment).

Investigation is carried out by Anti-corruption Agency under State Security Service of Georgia.
