Deputy Head of State Security Service of Georgia Delivered a Speech at Ambassadorial 2017

Annual gathering of Heads of Georgian Diplomatic Missions abroad – Result-oriented Diplomacy in Turbulent Environment – “Ambassadorial 2017” is underway in Tbilisi. On the second day of the event, working session - “Sovereignty and Territorial Inegrity“ was held.  In the scope of the session Alexander Tabatadze, Deputy Head of State Security Service of Georgia addressed the audience.

In his speech, Deputy Head reviewed security situation on the occupied territory of Georgia. In particular, military contingent in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions located by occupation forces, so-called borderization process, human rights conditions of the Georgian nationals living on the above-mentioned territory and existing challenges in this respect have been highlighted. Alexander Tabatadze underlined particularly important cases of Giga Otkhozoria and Giorgi Giunashvili and spoke on the illegal detentions of citizens of Georgia at the occupation line.

Sophio Katsarava, chairperson of Foreign Relations Committee of Parliament, Gedevan Popkhadze, chairperson of Temporary Commission on Territorial Integrity Issues of Parliament and Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality delivered speeches at the event.   

In the framework of the working session, participants discussed steps taken by the Government of Georgia in an effort to provide sovereignty and territorial integrity, Genève International Discussions and IPRM process.

“Ambassadorial 2017”was officially launched yesterday in Tbilisi Parliament Building and will be closed on July 21th.
