Anti-corruption Agency under State Security Service of Georgia Detained three Public Servants on the Fact of Bribery in Especially Large Quantities

The officers of Anti-corruption Agency under State Security Service of Georgia, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities detained Zaza Zazashvili, member of Telavi municipality Assembly, chairperson of Commission on Recognition of Property Rights for demanding and receiving bribes in especially large quantities.

Investigation established, that Zaza Zazashvili promised a foreign citizen to put up non-agricultural land plot on the auction for less than the real price and assist him in purchasing of the above-mentioned land. In return he demanded USD 30 000 as a bribe.

Zaza Zazashvili made the foreign citizen transfer the part of the demanded money – USD 15 000 to his own account after which he was detained by the officers of Anti-corruption Agency.

Today, The officers of Anti-corruption Agency under State Security Service of Georgia, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities also detained Akaki Tsereteli representative of Mayor in Thirteen Assyrian Fathers Administrative Unit of Rustavi Municipality and Giorgi Narimanidze, former specialist of Kvemo Kartli State Governor Administration for demanding and accepting bribes in especially large quantities with a prior consent committed by group.

Investigation established, that  the detainees promised a citizen of Georgia to assist him in receiving hotel construction permit on 6009 square meters agricultural land plot in Rustavi and in return demanded USD 15 000 as a bribe.

The detainees received USD 7 000 - part of the demanded amount beforehand, after which they were detained by the officers of Anti-corruption Agency. Sum of money received as a bribe is seized as evidence.

In both cases investigation is in progress on the fact of receiving bribe in especially large quantities with a prior consent committed by group. (Article 338, part II subparagraph “G” and part III, subparagraph “E” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages from 11 to 15 years of imprisonment).

Investigation is carried out by Anti-corruption Agency under State Security Service of Georgia.
