The officers of Anti-corruption Agency under the State Security Service of Georgia, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities detained citizens of Georgia Kote D. and Davit Sh. on the fact of attempted misappropriation of cash in large quantities by swindling committed by a group.

Investigation established, that citizens, one of whom pretended to be the employee of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia promised Turkish and Georgian nationals assistance in purchasing state-owned land plot in Tbilisi through auction allegedly by misusing powers and with the assistance of other high ranking officials of the Ministry and in return demanded GEL 200 000.

On March, 8 of the current year, the detainees took the part of the demanded sum GEL 50 000 in advance when they were detained by the officers of the Anti-corruption Agency under the State Security Service of Georgia.

Investigation is in progress on the fact of attempted swindling in large quantities committed by a group (Article 19,180, part II, subparagraph “A” and part III, subparagraph “B”, which envisages form 6 to 9 years of imprisonment).
