The Head of the State Security Service of Georgia, Vakhtang Gomelauri, alongside the senior officials and employees of the Service visited the tomb of the special forces officer Ivane Golashvili fallen in the course of the counter-terrorism special operation due to the death-day of the fallen officer. Vakhtang Gomelauri honored the memory of the fallen officer and condoled to the family members.

“A year has passed since the special operation. It is a very sad day for everyone, for myself as well. Vano Golashvili died that day, several officers were wounded. This person is a true hero. We strive hard to moderate the heartache that was caused by his death, caused the heartache not only of his family, but the heartache of the Service, the heartache of the whole country. It is the obligation of all of us to honor these people. I would like to mention those people, who were wounded, who were taking part in that operation, all of them are heroes, all of them, including the officers of the Ministry of Interior Affairs who were with us that day, the employees of Fire and Rescue Service who in the line of fire were extinguishing it in order to prevent fire from spreading to other houses, in a way that only heroes do. Also, the medical emergency service teams are worth-mentioning, who were providing first aid treatment to the wounded on the ground and transferred them to the hospitals. Unfortunately, we could not help Vano Golashvili. We did everything in order to do so, although he deceased in the emergency vehicle on the way to the hospital. This special operation brought very big result to our country, to our homeland and this is one of the subjects, that I cannot speak about, one day their plans in our country, Georgia will be disclosed, I cannot talk openly about this for the time being” – Vakhtang Gomelauri, the Head of the State Security Service of Georgia stated.

“One painful year has passed, the year that we cannot endure and we still cannot realize - what happened, why it happened. I am proud that my spouse is a hero of our country, despite of the fact that this brings us heartache and sorrow” – Tamuna Khelaia, the wife of Ivane Golashvili stated.

The officer of the Special Forces under the State Security Service of Georgia Ivane Golashvili fell in the course of the special counter-terrorism operation conducted against Akhmed Chataev and his group on November 21-22, 2017 in Tbilisi on Beri Gabriel Salosi Street. Also 4 officers were wounded in the course of the special operation
