Ivane Golashvili, the Officer of the Special Forces Fallen in the Course of Special Operation Conducted on Beri Gabriel Salosi Street, was Awarded with King Vakhtang Gorgasali First-Degree Order upon the Nomination of the Prime Minister

The officer of the Special Forces Ivane Golashvili, fallen in the course of the special operation on Beri Gabriel Salosi street was honored King Vakhtang Gorgasali First-Degree Order upon the nomination made by the Prime Minister.

The award was granted to the family members of the Special Forces officer of the State Security Service of Georgia by Mamuka Bakhtadze today, on the birthday of Ivane Golashvili. The captain fallen in the course of counter-terrorism operation, would have turned 43 years on December 9.

Prime Minister alongside Vakhtang Gomelauri, the Head of the State Security Service of Georgia hosted the spouse of Ivane Golashvili and his children - Mariam and Giorgi at the Government Administration.

The Head of the Government reiterated the self-sacrifice showed by Ivane Golashvili in the course of the special operation and stated that Georgia is proud of its heroes.

“Vano Golashvili is a symbol of courage and self-sacrifice. Every single Georgian is proud of the heroism demonstrated by  Vano  Golashvili, as your family does, as Mariam and Giorgi will take pride throughout their lives in their father’s heroism. Georgia exists due to persons like Vano” – Mamuka Bakhtadze stated.

The Head of the Government nominated Ivane Golashvili for the First-Degree Order of King Vakhtang Gorgasali to the President in August 1, 2018, for special merits to the homeland, for the contribution in fight against terrorism and the courage and self-sacrifice.

The officer of the special forces Ivane Golashvili has been also awarded posthumously with the Medal of “Bravery” for his outstanding courage demonstrated in the line of duty.
