Anti-Corruption agency under the State Security Service of Georgia detained a Lawyer for Attempted Fraud

The officers of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, detained a lawyer Ramaz R. on the fact of attempted fraud in large quantities.

Investigation established, that Ramaz R. promised the citizen of Islamic Republic of Iran to assist him in receiving citizenship of Georgia, allegedly with promotion of high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Internal affairs and the Ministry of Justice and in return demanded USD 10 000. Ramaz R. was detained by officers of Anti-corruption Agency under the State Security Service of Georgia when he was receiving the sum required.

Investigation is in progress on the fact of attempted fraud in large quantities (Article 19-180, part III, sub-paragraph “B”, of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages from 6 to 9 years of imprisonment). Investigation is carried out by the Anti-corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia.
