The Government of Georgia has Approved National Strategy of Georgia on Fight against Terrorism

The Government of Georgia has Approved National Strategy of Georgia on Fight against Terrorism. The document has been prepared by the Permanent Interagency Commission established under the Government Decree. The Commission is chaired by the State Security Service of Georgia and it is composed of all relevant state authorities.
The National Strategy of Georgia on Fight against Terrorism sets forth the threats and challenges in terms of terrorism and extremisms facing the country, as well as the unified vision, purposes and objectives of the Government that are intended to tackle them. For the purposes of the three-year strategy, its relevant Action Plan has been elaborated as well.
Strategy pays particular attention to collection and analysis of terrorism, extremism and radicalization-related information by state authorities within their competence. Furthermore, in the scope of counterterrorism vision, implementation of preventive measures is given a priority.
Before the submission of the document to the Government of Georgia, the State Security Service of Georgia provided experts, representatives of civil society and public defender with the information on the document.
In the course of elaboration of the Strategy, working group has studied experience and best practices of various countries, the US, the UK, Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany and other countries among them, besides, throughout the drafting of the Strategy, various international documents have been taken into account.
