Anti-corruption Agency under State Security Service of Georgia detained the Deputy Head of Vake District for Assistance in Bribery in Especially Large Quantities

The officers of Anti-corruption Agency under the State Security Service of Georgia, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities detained Teimuraz Chochua, the deputy head of Vake district under Tbilisi Municipality City Hall on the fact of assistance in bribery in especially large quantities.

Investigation established that Teimuraz Chochua connected the chairman of Tskaltubo Municipality Assembly Grigol Ivaneishvili to a foreign businessman, who was interested in purchasing former building of Tskaltubo Municipality Assembly. Grigol Ivaneishvili promised a foreign businessman to put up the mentioned building on the auction for a preliminary negotiated price and promised assistance in terms of purchasing the mentioned property. In return, Ivaneishvili demanded bribe in amount of GEL 250 000.

Teimuraz Chuchua, in his turn, has provided assistance to Grigol Ivaneishvili in terms of registering a 16% share of foreign businessman’s company on the name of Ivaneishvili’s confidant and receiving bribe in amount of GEL 250 000.

Investigation towards Teimuraz Chochua is in progress on the fact of assistance in bribery in especially large quantities (Article 25- 338, paragraph III, sub-paragraph “E” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages from 11 to 15 years of imprisonment).

Investigation is carried out by the Anti-corruption Agency under the State Security Service of Georgia.
