Representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Georgia visited the village Gugutiantkari in Gori district. They got acquainted with the conditions in the village and security environment on the ground.

Deputy Director of the Information-Analytical Department of the State Security Service of Georgia Irakli Antadze, State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality of Georgia Ketevan Tsikhelashvili and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Lasha Darsalia provided comprehensive information to the ambassadors.

Representatives of the central authorities discussed with the representatives of the Diplomatic Corps the threats arising in the given segment of the occupation line.

“We have provided comprehensive information regarding the current developments in the village Gugutiantkari to the representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Georgia. We talked about the threats coming from the occupied territories. Special emphasis was made on the problems and challenges, local population face because of the ongoing illegal so-called "borderization" process. In general, such visit is very important, as high-level guests were given the opportunity to see current situation and the security challenges on the ground” - said Irakli Antadze, Deputy Head of the Informational-Analytical Department of the State Security Service of Georgia.

„The European Union is very much concerned about the so-called borderization activities. In this specific case we see the risk for the local community to have their freedom of movement affected and their life greatly impacted. We are very concerned about this. We work very much on all possible avenues, including in Geneva, to address this issue. Yes, I Think that Georgian Government is reacting firmly and We are here to show our solidarity with the Georgian government”- Said Carlo Natale, EU Chargé d´Affaires.
