The officers of the Anti-corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, on the basis of judge’s ruling, detained the officer of Samegrelo-Zemo-Svaneti regional division of Department of Environment Supervision Vaja B. on the fact of bribe-giving with the purpose to commit an unlawful act.

Investigation established, that Vaja B. in August 2019, offered GEL 1800 as a bribe to the officer of western regional division of Department of Environmental Supervision in return for not checking during the shift at check point the lorries loaded with unlawfully obtained 48 cubic meters wood and handed over GEL 900 in advance.

Investigation is in progress on the fact of bribe-giving (Article 339, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages from 4 to 7 years of imprisonment). Investigation is carried out by the Anti-corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia.
