Statement of the State Security Service of Georgia

We would like to respond to the statements made by activists of particular political forces as if the State Security Service of Georgia carried out unlawful surveillance over Nika Gvaramia’s family members. The mentioned accusations represent another attempt to discredit the Service and are groundless. The General Prosecutor’s Office has already made explanations in relation to the disseminated footages and it has been stated that this video material is evidence obtained on the basis of court ruling within the framework of ongoing investigation, which proves that Nika Gvaramia and his family used EUR 76 thousand worth vehicle which had been registered in the name of subcontractor of Rustavi 2’s subcontractor company in exchange for the usage of Rustavi 2’s commercial airtime.
Therefore, it has been proved once again that various types of accusations made against the State Security Service are absolutely groundless and politically motivated.
