Interagency Commission positively evaluated the first year of implementation of National Counterterrorism Strategy and its Action Plan

Under the leadership of the Head of the State Security Service of Georgia, Grigol Liluashvili, third meeting of the Permanent Interagency Commission on Elaboration and Monitoring of Implementation of the National Counterterrorism Strategy and Relevant Action Plan has been held.

Grigol Liluashvili, Head of the State Security Service of Georgia and the chairman of the Commission, opened the meeting. The chairman of the Commission remarked the significance of adoption of the National Counterterrorism Strategy and its Action Plan, reviewed the first year of implementation of the Action Plan and thanked the agencies for the work they have done.

Grigol Liluashvili addressed international terrorism-related threats and challenges and underlined the special meaning of involvement and permanent coordination from the member agencies of the Commission, in this direction. Furthermore, he emphasized Georgia's efforts in the direction on fight against international terrorism and the successful cooperation with international partners, as well as, stressing the USA special contribution in this regard.

Within the framework of the meeting, a report-presentation concerning the 2019 implementation of the 2019-2021 Action Plan of the National Counterterrorism Strategy was presented. Members of the Commission got acquainted with the information on implementation process, the results achieved and the existing challenges. The first year of implementation of the Strategy and its Action Plan was positively evaluated by the members of the Commission.

The Permanent Interagency Commission has been established under the Government Decree with the objective of determining Georgia's unified policy in the field of counterterrorism, minimizing and preventing existing threats facing the country, as well as, promoting coordinated action of the state authorities.
