The officers of the Anti-corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia detained three persons in Autonomous Republic of Adjara

The officers of the Anti-corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, detained a head of Land Management Service of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Division of Autonomous Republic of Adjara and an individual on the fact of bribe-taking in large quantities and providing assistance in bribe-taking, while also detained an expert on the fact of issuing of forged conclusion.

Investigation establishes that the head of Land Management Service of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Division of Autonomous Republic of Adjara, who, at the same time is a member of a Commission of Recognition of Property rights of Khelvatchauri Municipality, took from a citizen USD 4 000 as a bribe in exchange for recognizing a property right to land parcel and buildings placed on the land in village Charnali of Khelvatchauri Municipality.

Furthermore, the expert, according to the instructions of the above-mentioned individuals, prepared a forged examination conclusion for exchange of USD 1 000 on the matter of constructing of a building in 2002-2006 which is placed on the land parcel subject to recognition.

Investigation is ongoing on the fact of bribe-taking in large quantities, assistance in bribe-taking and issuing of a forged conclusion by an expert, which envisages from 7 to 11 years of imprisonment.

Investigation is carried out by the Anti-corruption Agency of the State Security Service.
