The Head of the State Security Service of Georgia Held Meeting with the Co-chair of Geneva International Discussions

Head of the State Security Service, Grigol Liluashvili held meeting with the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, the Co-chair of International Geneva Discussions, Toivo Klaar.

Deputy Head of the State Security Service, Alexander Khojevanishvili and the representatives of Informational-Analytical Department of the State Security Service attended the meeting.

Participants discussed current situation in the occupied territories and along the occupation line, as well as touched on the challenges in security field, including illegal so-called borderization process detected along the occupation line, decision of the Russian occupation forces on closure of so-called crossing-points and its accompanying negative outcomes.

During the meeting talks were also held on grave humanitarian situation created in occupied territories
due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The role of the EU as the Co-Chair of the Geneva International Discussions and importance of an unlimited access of the EUMM in the occupied territories was highlighted.

Necessity of efficient application and enhancement of existing formats of negotiations, in particular, Geneva International Discussions and the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) has been reiterated.
