Grigol Liluashvili Participated in First Cyber Security Forum of Georgia

Head of State Security Service, Grigol Liluashvili participated in the first Cyber Security Forum of Georgia and addressed the audience.

Grigol Liluashvili spoke on the importance of the Forum and underlined that such events are the opportunity both for representatives of our partner countries, as well as relevant actors to share views on threats and challenges that our country faces.

Head of  State Security Service placed focus on the matter of development of cyber security system and spoke on different aspects of activity carried out by the Service in this direction within its competence.

“Creating and existence of steady cyber security system becomes of a particular importance against the background of permanent tendency of introducing of IT technologies and dependence thereof on every stage of state governance, as well as social life.

On the one hand, we should promote protection of information infrastructure and systems against cyber-attacks, secure functioning of which are of a critical importance for the security of the country while also this should become an additional factor for country’s further economic and social development” – Grigol Liluashvili stated.

                                                                                                                                   

Head of Security Service, during his speech, spoke also about legislative gaps in terms of cyber security and need to eradicate them. He also highlighted particular examples of cyber-attacks carried out against the country. Grigol Lilaushvili expressed gratitude to American and British counterparts for important assistance provided in the course of investigation of the mentioned incidents in terms of sharing both information, as well as expertise.

Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia, opened the event. Secretary of National Security Council, members of Government and representatives of diplomatic Corps addressed the audience.
