Statement of the State Security Service of Georgia

State Security Department of the State Security Service of Georgia is carrying out an investigation into the fact of conspiracy intended to overthrow state power.


On the basis of evidence obtained within the framework of investigation, it is established that the individuals involved in the case were planning certain destructive activities, in particular, blocking the roads in the direction of N8 (Gldani) penitentiary facility using various means in the event of possible decline in health of convict Mikheil Saakashvili in order to hamper the process of his convoying to the aforementioned facility. Through this destructive activity, they intend to cause uncontrolled situation, chaos and hinder the process of convoying of convicted Mikheil Saakashvili. Similar activities may also occur during convoying of convicted Mikheil Saakashvili to other facilities.
State Security Service of Georgia has immediately informed Special Penitentiary Service in relation to the fact.


It is also worth noting that the individuals involved in the case, who have been summoned for the interview as witnesses refused to go to the investigative body, consequently they will be interviewed in the court in accordance to the law.


We would like to reiterate that manipulating the matters of state security, provoking processes and creating political agenda though this represent an extremely dangerous activity, which may bring grave consequences and irreparably damage to the state security.
Investigation is in progress under article 315, paragraph 1, which envisages imprisonment form 5 to 8 years.


Investigation is carried out by the State Security Department of State Security Service of Georgia.
