Head of Information-analytical Department Irakli Beraia Payed Official Visit to Germany

Head of Information-analytical Department under State Security Service of Georgia Irakli Beraia who was officially invited by UNICRI and German side, attended the G7 Global Partnership against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction work meeting, which was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of German and took place in Berlin.

During the event, among other issues, successful experience of Georgia in CBRN action plan elaborating was discussed. Georgia is the first country within the CBRN Centers of Excellence EU initiative to elaborate and approve the above-mentioned document.

Georgia is forming as international cooperation center in CBRN field. Since 2013 Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Risk Mitigation Centers of Excellence” regional secretariat of European Union is successfully functioning in Tbilisi covering 9 countries of south-east Europe and South Caucasus. Our country closely cooperates with EU member countries, the US, IAEA, NATO and OSCE in CBRN security field.

Various countries express desire to share experience and get assistance from Georgia in relevant action plan elaboration process. During the meeting readiness of Georgia to join the G7 Global Partnership was expressed to further increase its contribution to the global security architecture.

In the scope of the event, Irakli Beraia also held meetings with representatives of donor organizations aiming at funding certain activities within national CBRN action plan.
