Vakhtang Gomelauri, Head of State Security Service of Georgia held meeting with Saulius Urbanavičius, Director of Special Investigation Service of Republic of Lithuania. The meeting was attended by Alexander Tabatadze, Deputy Head of State Security Service of Georgia, Lasha Tsomaia, Director of Anti-corruption Agency under SSSG, Žydrūnas Bartkus, First Deputy Director of Special Investigation Service of Republic of Lithuania and other members of delegation.

US Department of State published country reports on terrorism 2016. In an annual report activities carried out by Georgia in terms of countering terrorism is assessed among other countries. The document suggests, that The State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) has the lead in handling terrorism-related incidents, and is generally well-equipped and well trained.
The officers of Anti-corruption Agency under State Security Service of Georgia, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities detained Zaza Zazashvili, member of Telavi municipality Assembly, chairperson of Commission on Recognition of Property Rights for demanding and receiving bribes in especially large quantities.

Head of Counter-intelligence Department of State Security Service of Georgia, Otar Kuprashvili steps down. Due to the fact, that questions have been raised concerning the investigation of Aphgan Mukhtarli case, it is better that Mr. Kuprashvili steps down from his position upon the conclusion of the investigation. It is important, that the public should not have any questions regarding current investigation and services which conduct counter-intelligence activities.
