Anti-corruption Agency detained one Person for the Attempted Fraud

The officers of Anti-corruption Agency under State Security Service of Georgia as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities detained a citizen of Georgia, Otar Ts. for the attempted fraud that might have resulted in serious damage.

Investigation established, that Otar Ts. in exchange for increasing the relevant points necessary for obtaining an apartment within the housing program implemented by the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia  demanded IDP wife and husband from Abkhazia 8000 GEL and deceived them as if they have an influential acquaintances in the Ministry.

In order to increase points, Otar Ts. brought the couple to 2 hospitals in Tbilisi to doctors familiar for him, where they underwent medical examinations on the basis of which a fake medical certificates have been issued allegedly proving they suffered chronic lung disease.

On September 28th, 2015, Otar Ts. received the demanded sum of money – 8000 GEL, when he was detained.

Investigation is in progress on the fact of attempted fraud that might have resulted in serious damage. (Article 19-180, part II, sub-paragraph “B” of the Criminal Code of Georgia that envisages from 4 to 7 years of imprisonment.)

Investigation is carried out by Anti-corruption Agency under State Security Service of Georgia. Investigation continues and every person involved in the crime will bear punishment.
