Grigol Liluaushvili Held Meeting with the Ambassador of the United States of America

“There are many areas where the United States and Georgia are cooperating to protect Georgia’s security interests and I look forward to continuing that work in the year to come” – Kelly Degnan, Ambassador of the United States of America to Georgia stated during the meeting with Grigol Liluashvili.

During the meeting, cooperation between the two countries in the direction of security, as well as regional security challenges have been discussed. 

Particular attention has been paid to the issues of occupation, including security situation along the occupation line and in the occupied territories, as well as threats originating from the occupied territories.

Grigol Liluashvili and Kelly Degnan highlighted the facts of illegal detentions carried out by the occupation regime, discussed particular incidents, including the illegal fact of Zaza Gakheladze’s detention.

“It was an important opportunity to discuss the security cooperation that we have between the United States and Georgia, especially in light of recent changes in the region, this is a region very much influx. Also, aggression that Georgia is seeing from Russia on the ABL, the detentions of Georgians in the occupied territories, as well as cyber attacks and how we can cooperate further on strengthening Georgia’s cyber security” – Kelly Degnan stated.

Head of State Security Service expressed gratitude to the Ambassador of the United States to Georgia for close cooperation and underlined the importance of support provided by American partners on security matters.
