The officers of State Security Department under the State Security Service of Georgia, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities detained the members of criminal group Mirian B. (DoB 1979), Konstantine B. (Dob 1976) and Joseb Ch. (DoB 1076) for illegal handling and selling of nuclear material. The abovementioned persons were planning to sell nuclear material Cesium 137 for 100 000 USD and were detained on the fact. Nuclear material Cesium 137 is seized.

Investigation established that the members of the criminal group illegally purchased and kept radioactive substance – a radioactive isotope of cesium - Cs137. The mentioned substance is the product of nuclear reaction and given the gamma ray emission and radiological expertise report, is dangerous for health.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal handling and selling of nuclear material. (Article 230, part I of the Criminal Code of Georgia)
